Collections Specialist
TruEnergy Federal Credit Union, a $126+ million dollar Credit Union located in Springfield, Virginia, is looking for an experienced Collector to assist in our Collections Department. This position will assist and work closely with our collections manager and will perform a variety of collections functions. This position requires the chosen applicant to possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to represent the credit union courteously and professionally.

Responsibilities:
- Compliance with state and federal collection regulations including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
- Communicate with members via telephone and written correspondence for delinquent loans/accounts on a daily basis
- Negotiate payment arrangements
- Skip tracing
- Post recovery payments
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Collection Manager
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum one (1) years experience working with consumer loan collections and delinquencies
- Minimum one (1) years experience in a financial institution preferred
- Strong verbal phone skills, works well without supervision, and a quick learner.
- PC proficient including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power point
- Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: CRT, PC, fax, copier, telephone, postage machine, etc.
